Silas is 2!!!

Our little guy is now 2 years old! He turned 2 on October 22, and we celebrated by going to the park down the street form our house thats right on the lake and has a nice sandy beach which Silas loves. We BBQ'd and brought a fire pit and roasted marshmallows with Mark, Karen, and some friends that live in our neighborhood. Silas had a great time.
We were also able to visit all our family and friends in California at the beginging of October and have a little Birthday get together there as well!
Its officially fall and all the leaves are changing and the weather has been beautiful, so Saturday Jake and I packed a lunch and headed up to the mountains to spend some "family time". We found a spot on the river for Silas to play in and that is where we spent pretty much the majority of the time, the original plan was a hike but he was having too much fun throwing rocks and watching leaves race down the river.
We finished out the night by carving our pumpkin, and snuggling on the floor watching a movie. And that was how Silas spent his first day as a 2 year old!

It's been awhile.....

So it has been a few months since our last update but a lot of exciting things are taking place out here in our neck of the woods.
First of all for those of you who don't know we are expecting our second little bundle of joy. The little one is due April 9, 2010. So I am about 4 months and hopefully the sickness is behind me, and the motivation/energy will return as well! We are all excited and can't wait to meet him or her.
Another exciting thing is Jake is "building" his first house! We have a lot that we bought a couple of years ago and we decided to build a spec house on it. So far things are going really well for him the framing and roof are done as well as the electrical and plumbing. He is enjoying what he is doing a lot, and Silas enjoys going to see daddy and get to ride the tractors and play in the mud!

Our weekend getaway!

So Friday Jake and I decided to take a little trip to Asheville NC. We dropped off Silas with his Nana and Granddad, hopped on  Jakes parents motorcycle and hit the road early Sat. morning. It was a long and beautiful drive through the smokey mountains and a place called the Blueridge parkway. We got to Asheville and walked around downtown, listened to music played by people on the streets, and enjoyed some "quality time". Sunday we got to visit the Biltmore Estate, which was incredible, we could have spent a couple of days there but we had to get home to our little guy! So we hit the road for another beautiful motorcycle ride home!

Silas: 16 months

So Silas is now 16 months, 2 months away from 1 1/2.....I cant believe it! He is becoming more and more little boy like and less baby like everyday, but we still have a little while right? His newest and biggest feats this month is using his verbal skills. He is amazing us everyday with new words (or at least his take on the word) and sounds. He loves to scream and laugh and chase Baja around the kitchen island (Baja not so much). Silas has got to enjoy a couple of sunny days, which are filled with playing ball with Baja, wagon rides (but only if Baja sits in the wagon with him), the park, and riding his motorized quad.
We are loving every minute of watching him grow and develop into such a sweet, loving, playful, and smart boy! We are truly blessed.

January-February

We got back from our fun filled 3 week trip to San Diego the first week of January. When we landed it was snowing and in the teens! Very different from sunny San Diego weather. We have had a few snow days and Silas got to take his first sled ride! He loved it he kept doing the sign for "more" every time we got to the bottom of the hill. The cold has us inside a little more than Silas would prefer but the cold does not bother him, he would spend all day outside if he could!
So January was a big month for us, I (Sharrah) started working 3 days a week. And Jake and Mark got all their permits passed and started "breaking ground" on the lot.
At the end of the month Monica came out and spent a week with us! We went to a place called Boone, NC and went snowboarding. She also got to experience a "winter storm" so we got to go sledding and enjoy the beautiful snow. Silas really loved having his Auntie around!

Welcome
